To view the book on your computer screen
you'll have to install Adobe Reader 4.(or greater). Most
computers will have the Adobe Reader already installed but

Once you have purchased the PDF version
of Forward Motion and agreed to the purchase terms, you‘ll
automatically be sent to a page with two download links.
One is for downloading to Macs, the other is for downloading
to PCs. Click on the appropriate link to download the book
to your hard drive. The size of the PDF book file is 3 Mb.
Download times may vary according to your line, and modem
speed and computer.
You'll then have to download and install
the Myriad Music plug-in to activate the interactive musical
examples.
What is the Myriad Music plug-in?
Upon hearing the word "Plug-in," eyes glaze
and minds fog. I know mine did. Most of us know little about
how plug-ins work or where to install them. Thankfully,
the directions for getting this book to read on your computer
and interact with the Internet are relatively simple and
require the minimum of computer expertise.
The Myriad Music Plug-In is freeware. It
enables you to play, display, transpose and print music
files directly from your web browser.
How to download it?
Two versions are provided: a long version
(Complete) which includes the sound base, and a short version
(Update) which does not include the sound base. Download
the Complete version! If the sound base is not installed,
the Plug-In will run but you will not be able to play the
music examples.
1. After you have download the plug-in
you will have to quit the web browser to install it. We
recommend you print this page.
2. When you get to the Myriad Music Plug-In
page you’ll see links (like listed below) for downloading
the plug-in. Click the appropriate link to download the
Complete Myriad Music Plug-In archive.

3. When the download is complete (about
4 minutes with a 56k modem), quit your browser.
4. Click on the archive to un-compress
it (if not already done). You will get an executable file
"MMPlug-in Install."
5. Click on the installer icon and select
the browser you want the plug-in to be installed into, or
click "All" to install the Plug-In on all the available
browsers.
6. Start your browser again and go the
sample page to test the Myriad Music Plug-in: www.myriad-online.com/plugmain.htm

The Myriad company is located in France. They have
a very responsive support segment but keep in mind the time
difference from your location when sending a query.
(To insure that your downloads function
properly it is recommended that you run Symantec's Norton
Disk Doctor after downloading and installing any software
program from the internet. If you don’t have NDD installed
on your hard drive, you should! HG)
Internet Explorer is recommended as the
default browser for playing the Internet music examples.
The musical examples in Forward Motion
are not contained within the PDF file itself. They reside
on the Internet and are linked to the book's musical examples.
With the PDF file open the hand curser turns into a pointing
finger when held over an example indicating the example
is an Internet link. Clicking on the example connects you
to that example's web page on the Internet. The music files
are very low memory and load quickly. You’ll see a
set of buttons that play, stop, transpose, adjust the volume
and tempo, zoom and print the example.
At the top of each example page you'll
see a TOC link. This link takes you to a Table of Contents
with a complete list of links for each chapter's examples.
An alternate link to the Tipsheet found on the last page
of the book and a Q & A section of frequently asked
questions about implementing the concept of Forward Motion
is also provided. Because of the dynamic potential of web
pages, some of these examples will be periodically updated
with additional suggestions and helpful advice. Returning
to this page from time to time is recommended.
